Italy. It preserves its own cultural identity and feels both like Switzerland and like Italy.
The
Valle d'Aosta impresses visitors with it's picturesque alpine mountings and beautiful landscapes. Green hills are decorated with medieval castles and ancient Roman Empire ruins. The famous Castello Fenis is absolutely amazing building, was built in 1330 by Prince Challant, who owned the valley. There are many frescoes on its walls, the original households that were put there by the past owner.
More than a fifth of Aostan territory is classified as a reserve for fauna and flora. The Gran Paradiso National Park (35.000 hectares), Mont Avic Regional Park (3.500 hectares), 8 natural reserves, 4 Alpine gardens. With 210 glaciers, 500 torrents, 400 lakes… there are countless things to discover!
The region of
Valle d'Aosta offers great possibilities for winter and mountain activities. Mont Blanc, Matterhorn and Monte Rosa are Europe’s highest mountains, and alpine skiing is some of the best in the world. Numerous resorts offer skiing, hiking, rock climbing, rafting and kayaking.
