Florida's Great Beaches
The vast majority of Florida is coastline, and that means that there are miles and miles of beautiful beaches just waiting to be explored by travelers to the Sunshine State. Each beach has a unique flavor, and all make for great getaways. The following are a few of the most beloved beaches in the state.
Cocoa Beach is located just one hour west of Orlando, which makes it the beach closest to all of the themed attractions like Disney, Universal Studios, and Epcot Center that make Orlando such a hot spot. It is a friendly beach with plenty to see and do. In addition, it is only a short drive to the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral where you can watch launches of the space shuttle. This nice, family friendly beach and it has a lot to offer.
Daytona Beach is huge – twenty-three miles long and there is always plenty to keep the beachgoers busy. Besides the beach, there is a great boardwalk with shops, attractions, and arcades to keep people entertained. This beach, located about 50 miles outside of Orlando, is on the central east coast. Because of its perfect location, this beach is popular among families who are visiting Orlando as well as party going college students on Spring Break. It is a fun beach, and it always seems packed with people.
Miami Beach is one of the most popular beach resorts in the United States and has been for almost a century. It is always busy, and there are always people jogging, rollerblading, and riding bikes along the streets and boardwalks. South Beach, a section of Miami Beach, seems to attract the most visitors. After a day in the sun, whether you are relaxing or working up an appetite in the water, most people are ready to hit the town, grab some dinner at one of the nice restaurants, and then maybe check out one of the clubs. The nightlife around Miami Beach is said to be some of the hottest in the nation.
These beaches pull in visitors to the state every year, but they are just as popular with the local crowd. Activities at the beaches can vary from sunbathing and swimming to boogie boarding and parasailing. There is always something fun to do at each of the famous Florida Beaches.
